Off-Grid Electrification Project in Mayo-Selbe

The Africa Nature Investors (ANI) Foundation, in collaboration with the Australian High Commission, commissioned an off-grid solar system in Mayo Selbe, a rural community in Gashaka Local Government in Taraba State, on July 12th, 2025. The activation was strategically designed to generate authentic media coverage and position ANI as a leader in rural electrification, community development and sustainable development. Caritas Communication Limited coordinated national media engagement by mobilising reporters and journalists from top broadcast and print outlets, including NTA, Arise TV, Taraba TV, Punch, Guardian, ThisDay, Vanguard, Daily Trust, Leadership, and NAN. The delegation was granted first-hand exposure to the project, enabling real-time storytelling and impactful coverage.
OUR ACTIVATION
To amplify the commissioning of ANI Foundation’s off-grid solar electrification project in Mayo Selbe, Taraba State, Caritas executed a full-scale media activation strategy including:
– Mobilising journalists from national and regional media houses for the event
– Coordinating broadcast reports with Arise TV, NTA Newsline, and Taraba TV
– Securing placements in leading national dailies (Punch, ThisDay, Vanguard, Guardian, Leadership, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), People’s Daily, etc.)
– Targeting digital platforms with approved stories and facilitating syndication across environment, development, and energy-focused publications
– Distributing curated event photos to top-tier newspapers for visual storytelling
– Facilitating in-depth reportage highlighting ANI’s role in rural electrification, sustainable development and community empowerment
OUR RESULTS
The activation delivered strong national visibility and reinforced ANI Foundation’s stature as a leader in conservation, community development and sustainable energy access
– Aired on three (3) major broadcast stations (Arise TV, NTA Newsline, and Taraba TV)
– Published in seven (7) national newspapers including Punch, Vanguard, Guardian, BusinessDay, ThisDay, Leadership and People’s Daily
– Featured on over fourteen (14+) online news platforms (including Guardian Online, Vanguard Online, EnviroNews, Daily Trust Online, and NigeriaWorld)
– Placed across twenty-four (24) platforms across print, TV, and online platforms
– Resulted in over sixty-three (63) households in Mayo Selbe gaining access to electricity for the first time
– Positioned ANI Foundation as a credible partner in conservation, sustainable development, and community empowerment
– Enhanced ANI’s visibility among government agencies, development partners, and the public.
